The New Year is a great time for a fresh start. Whether you’ve lived in the same home for years, or you recently moved. The best way to refresh any space is with a fresh coat of paint.

Choosing the right color to accent your space depends greatly on the room (or rooms) you’re interested in repainting. Here are a few things to take into consideration to help you pick the best color.

Consider the function of the room. Kitchens are going to more often than not, the central station to any home. Chose a color that promotes healthy family time and positivity. This can obviously be different for each person. Experts recommend trying warm neutrals and earthy tones for kitchens, as they help create an inviting atmosphere.

If choosing the right paint wasn’t hard enough, consider the world of paint finishes: egg shell, satin, matte, and gloss (semi or high). Each type of finish will create its own unique effect, so be sure to consider how your paint’s finish will look after it dries.
